Vacation at Its Best - Energy Consumption at Its Lowest!

We have gathered our best tips for those who want to save electricity in their holiday home and do something good for the environment—without sacrificing the coziness of the holiday home experience.

Using the Heat Pump Correctly

A heat pump helps save electricity by maintaining warmth more efficiently than an electric radiator.

Step-by-Step Guide to Operating the Heat Pump

  1. Turn On the System:

    • On the remote control, press the "on/off" or "1/0" button to turn on the unit.
  2. Select Heating Mode:

    • Press the "Mode" or "Functions" button and choose "Heat".
  3. Set the Temperature:

    • Adjust the temperature using the "↑↓" or "+/-" buttons.
  4. Start the System:

    • Press the start button.

Once the system reaches the desired temperature, it will automatically turn off and restart when the temperature drops. The system regulates the temperature on its own. Please do not set it to "Auto," as this mode will cool the system down automatically when the temperature is reached or exceeded (e.g., when the fireplace is also in use).

Watch Out for Major Energy Drainers

If your holiday home has a pool, spa, or sauna, follow these tips to save energy and prevent unnecessary heat loss.

  • Cover the Water:
    • Pools: When the pool is not in use, cover it to retain heat.
    • Spas: Always cover the spa when it's not in use to keep the water warm.
  • Keep Doors Closed:
    • Saunas: Ensure the sauna door remains closed when it’s on to avoid unnecessary heat loss.

By taking these simple steps, you can significantly reduce energy consumption and maintain the comfort of your holiday home.

Remember the Small Good Energy Habits

It's important to remember and practice small energy-saving habits, even while on vacation. These old but gold tips can help you reduce energy consumption in your holiday home.

  • Turn Off and Turn Down:
    • Turn off the lights and close the door when you leave a room.
    • Lower the temperature settings on your heating when you're not in the room.
  • Fill It Up:
    • Fill the dishwasher before running it to make the most efficient use of energy.
  • Lower the Temperature for Laundry:
    • Wash clothes at lower temperatures to save energy.
  • Use the Clothesline:
    • Instead of the dryer, use a clothesline to dry your clothes.

Leave the Car – Take the Bike Instead

When you need to make a quick trip to town for breakfast rolls or head to the beach, leave the car behind. You can bring your own bike or rent one from Die "hyggelige" Dänen. The less you use the car during your holiday, the more CO2 you save. Plus, you get to enjoy the fresh North Sea air 😊
