Family-Owned and Locally Rooted Since 1984

Die "hyggelige" Dänen is a family-owned and locally rooted rental agency that has been in existence since 1984. The company was founded when Steen and Karin Hansen fell in love with Vejers Strand.

Founders: Steen and Karin Hansen

After living in Germany for several years, Steen and Karin Hansen visited Vejers Strand and were immediately captivated by its beach, nature, and tranquil surroundings. They knew they had to stay at the "Pearl of the West Coast" – Vejers Strand.

Falling in Love with Vejers Strand

Steen and Karin's hearts were melted by the beauty of the area. They decided to settle down in Vejers Strand and wanted to share their joy with others.

Sharing the Beauty with Others

Motivated by their love for the area, Steen and Karin decided to start renting out summer houses to tourists. Their goal was to provide others with the opportunity to experience the beauty and serenity of Vejers Strand.

When an Old Farm Went Up for Sale on the Outskirts of Vejers, They Seized the Opportunity

Steen and Karin moved to Vejers and began the search for houses to rent out. Steen, donning his sweater and clogs, started knocking on doors. Fortunately, the homeowners in Vejers recognized the great idea, and the business began to grow steadily.

Building Strong Relationships with Guests

Guests who came to Vejers quickly got to know the Hansen family. The excellent local service ensured that they returned to Vejers time and again.

Today, we even have third-generation guests who continue to enjoy the outstanding service and are on a first-name basis with our office staff.

Sustainable Tourism in Vejers

Steen and Karin's vision is for Vejers to remain an attractive holiday destination for both summer house owners and the many guests who visit the town each year. Therefore, the profits from the business are reinvested in the local community. This can be seen in the various ventures die "hyggelige" Dänen is involved in, such as the candy kitchen, the playground, Restaurant Vesterled, the bakery, and the pizzeria.

Reinvesting in the Local Community

Today, Steen's daughter Monike runs the business in collaboration with seven other employees at the farm in Vejers. Their hearts still beat for Vejers, and they share a common ambition: to keep Vejers an attractive holiday town and make the path even greener in the future.

A Greener Future with Growing Trees Network Foundation

That is why die "hyggelige" Dänen donates a tree to the Growing Trees Network Foundation for every completed booking with die "hyggelige" Dänen. The goal is to plant a biodiversity forest in the Varde municipality. In 2022, this effort resulted in a total area of 1.5 hectares.
